Under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the ground blessing ceremony for the new Gym and Event Center of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary was held on July 11, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Present for the ceremony were members of the Brotherhood of Holy Etchmiadzin and Mr. Sayat Oruncakciel, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bedros and Anna Oruncakciel, of the United States, benefactors of the Center.

During the ceremony, His Holiness blessed the grounds of the new wing, which will serve as the main auditorium and physical education facility for the students of the Gevorkian Seminary. Following the blessing, His Grace Bishop Sahak Mashalian, Dean of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary read a commemorative declaration of the construction, which was placed in a sealed container and encased within the foundation of the building.

At the conclusion of the ceremony the Armenian Pontiff extended his message to those in attendance. His Holiness was confident that the addition to the seminary would motivate the students to continue their education with zeal and devotion as future clergyman. His Holiness extended his blessings and gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Bedros and Anna Oruncakciel wishing them vibrancy, continued good health and renewing success in their activities in support of the Nation and Church and service to the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of the US as well as to the Homeland.

His Holiness also extended his appreciation to Mr. Jim Torosian, Architect of the building and Mr. Gagik Galstian, President of the Constructors’ Union of the Republic of Armenia.
