Bishop Khoren Arakelyan

Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Greece

● General Information

Born in 1980, in the town of Argel. Baptismal name: Taron.
1986-1997: Attended V. Ananyan Secondary School.
1997-2001: Faculty of Philology, Yerevan State University.
2001-2003: Served in the Armenian Armed Forces as a platoon commander, holds an officer rank.
2003-2007: Gevorgyan Theological Seminary.

● Ecclesiastical Titles and Ordinations

2007: Deacon, ordained by His Eminence Archbishop Ararat Kaltakjian.
2009: Celibate Priest, ordained by His Eminence Archbishop Aris Shirvanyan.
2015: Received the rank of Archimandrite (four stages), ordained by His Eminence Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan. (Thesis: "The Question of the Byzantine Church – The Accusations and the Responses of the Fathers of the Armenian Church According to Armenian Sources" (Based on the worship of the Cross, the Feast of Saint Sarkis, and the offering of the sacrifice).
2024: Bishop, ordained by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.

● Positions Held

2007: Reception at the Catholicosate.
2008-2009: Assistant to the Chief Architect of the Mother See.
2009-2010: Spiritual pastor of the Holy Virgin Church in the Armenian Diocese of Greece.
2010-2024: Vicar of the  Armenian Diocese of Greece.
Since 2024: Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Greece.
