The monument was donated by the descendants of Artsrun Jrbashyan, so that a fountain-monument would be built next to the northern alley of the Old Residence yard in memory of their father. The author of the project is Stepan Kyurkchyan. The opening ceremony took place in the fall of 1984. In 2015 the fountain has been repaired.
