Senior Archimandrite Fr. Shahe Ananyan Has Been Declared Defrocked

On January 23 of this year, by Patriarchal directive of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, and in accordance with his own petition, the Very Reverend Father Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, a member of the monastic clergy of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, was declared defrocked.
Henceforth, the defrocked clergyman shall be regarded as a layperson under his secular name, Artyom Ananyan.
