On November 15, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, welcomed a group of foreign guests at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, who had arrived in Armenia for the Prayer Breakfast initiative.
His Holiness imparted his blessing to those present and spoke of the vital role of the Armenian Church in the life of the Armenian people, noting that Holy Etchmiadzin is a sacred abode for all Armenians and has, throughout the most challenging periods of history, helped them overcome trials with faith and hope. He emphasized that the Armenian Apostolic Church, faithful to its historical mission, consistently shows care for national and religious minorities, playing a special role in their lives.
The Catholicos of All Armenians also responded to questions from the guests regarding the existing tensions in the relations between the Church and the authorities, as well as anti-church actions, including the unlawful detention of clergymen and unfounded accusations against the faithful of the Church.
During the meeting, issues concerning the difficult situation of the Armenians of Artsakh and the Church’s social initiatives aimed at providing comprehensive support for their needs were reviewed, as well as matters related to prisoners of war and civilian hostages forcibly held in Baku, the protection of the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, and the preservation of its spiritual and cultural heritage.
In conclusion, having blessed those present and recited the Guardian prayer, His Holiness prayed to the Heavenly Almighty for the preservation of peace throughout the world and for the grant of safety and well-being to all peoples.
