On July 4, the Divine and Immortal Liturgy was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Descent of the Only-Begotten in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The celebrant was His Grace Bishop Armash Nalbandian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Damascus.
In his sermon, Bishop Armash spoke about the Christian’s spiritual struggle, the significance of free will, and the weight of personal responsibility. He emphasized that we either serve God with love, humility, and obedience or fall into bondage to sin, selfishness, falsehood, and deceptive ideologies.
He went on to emphasize that Christianity guides each person toward true freedom through obedience to God's will, selfless devotion, and a spirit of sacrificial love, by embracing responsibility and rising above every temptation and trial.
Reflecting on the challenges of the present day, His Grace underscored that we are still called to remain faithful to our sacred mission. By preserving our spiritual and national values, we are called to uphold the supremacy of justice and truth in the life of our nation and society.
"At this moment, our beloved brothers—Archbishops Mikael and Bagrat—and national benefactor Mr. Samvel Karapetyan remain unlawfully imprisoned.
…We cannot remain silent in the face of such transgressions—when our spiritual identity is being distorted, when faith is being deprived of its public right, when the spiritual breath of our people is being stifled,” said Bishop Armash, calling upon the faithful to offer prayers for the radiance of Holy Etchmiadzin, peace in our homeland, the liberation of the captives, and comfort for all who suffer.
