Carpet Created within the “The Story of a Carpet” Initiative Presented to the Catholicos of All Armenians
On September 3, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received the participants of the “The Story of a Carpet” initiative, led by the Rev. Fr. Archimandrite Harutyun Kirakosyan, Spiritual Supervisor of the Hayordeats Youth Centers operating under the auspices of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU).
Also present at the meeting was Mr. Vazgen Yakubyan, President of AGBU Armenia and a member of the AGBU Central Board.
Fr. Harutyun presented to His Holiness the significance and purpose of the initiative, noting that throughout the academic year, representatives from the cultural, educational, and public sectors had been invited to the Arabkir Hayordeats Youth Center as part of its educational program. They shared their knowledge and experience with the students and, together with the pupils of the carpet-weaving and traditional rug-making class, created a unique dragon carpet (Vishapagorg), which they presented to the Armenian Pontiff as an expression of their filial love and gratitude.
In his remarks, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his gratitude to the Armenian General Benevolent Union, represented by Mr. Vazgen Yakubyan, for its care and support of the Hayordeats Youth Centers operating in Yerevan and for its significant contribution to their educational activities.
On the occasion of the visit, His Holiness also expressed appreciation to the initiative's participants, noting his satisfaction with the involvement of distinguished cultural figures in the educational process. The Armenian Pontiff emphasized that, through their personal example, experience, and achievements, they make an important contribution to the educational and formative mission of the Hayordeats Youth Centers.
His Holiness further extended his blessings and appreciation to the Spiritual Supervisor of the Hayordeats Youth Centers, the clergy, directors, and teachers, wishing them fruitful service in advancing education and the national-spiritual formation of Armenian children.
To the students who participated in the initiative, the Armenian Pontiff offered his prayerful wishes that Almighty God would multiply their talents, strengthen them in their good and creative aspirations, and grant them ever greater success.
