Visit of Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin Concludes

On April 23, the fraternal visit of His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and Supreme Head of the Syriac Orthodox Church, to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin came to a close. On this occasion, a joint prayer and farewell ceremony was held at the Cathedral of the Descent of the Only-Begotten.
In his remarks, the Catholicos of All Armenians noted that the visit of Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II to Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was an expression of support for the Armenian people, emphasizing that such reciprocal visits of spiritual leaders greatly contribute to strengthening relations between the two Sister Churches and to the development of fruitful cooperation, which is especially important in today’s turbulent world.
In turn, the Primate of the Syriac Orthodox Church expressed deep gratitude for the warm reception at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, stressing that throughout the centuries the two Sister Churches have shared martyrdom and trials, and that today as well, in these difficult days for the Middle East and Armenia, their unity and prayers stand as a living testimony of support for both peoples.
In conclusion, Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II offered a prayer to Almighty God for the flourishing of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and for the peaceful and prosperous life of the Armenian people.
