Message of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, on the Occasion of Army Day

From the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, we bring Our paternal love and Patriarchal blessing to the officers and soldiers of the Armenian Army, and to all our people, on the occasion of Army Day.
Born in the years of the formation of our newly independent statehood, our army has, in its sacred calling, distinguished itself through a fearless struggle for justice and freedom. The Armenian Army stands as one of the foundational pillars of our statehood, entrusted with the solemn mission of securing peace in our land and safeguarding the safety of our people.
During the war unleashed by Azerbaijan to forcibly seize Artsakh, the soldiers of our army fought with courage and valor, and many sons of the Armenian people sacrificed their lives. Their heroic deeds will forever inspire our warriors in their devoted and selfless service.
Our Patriarchal wish is that the Armenian Army, as the vigilant guardian of our homeland, continue to defend the borders of the state with bravery, steadfastness, and unwavering faith in God, according to the words of the holy Apostle: "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might; put on the whole armor of God" (Ephesians 6:10).
With prayer to Almighty God, we entreat that the Lord, by His Holy Right Hand, be the protector and support of the officers and soldiers of our army; that peace may be established throughout the world and in our homeland; and that our faithful people may ever dwell in safety and prosperity, multiplying their blessings and achievements. Amen.
