Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Newly Appointed Ambassador of Italy to Armenia

On February 28, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Armenia, Alessandro Ferranti, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
His Holiness congratulated the Ambassador on commencing his diplomatic mission and wished him success in further strengthening the friendly relations between Armenia and Italy.
The Catholicos of All Armenians emphasized that the friendship between the two nations is deeply rooted in history and noted that the warm relations between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Roman Catholic Church continue to play a vital role in strengthening this bond.
In his address, His Holiness expressed concern over Azerbaijan's ongoing aggression against Armenia, the unresolved issue of Armenian prisoners of war still held in Baku, and the policy of destruction and appropriation of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
In this regard, His Holiness highlighted the critical need for the international community to take a firm and resolute stance in condemning and curbing Azerbaijan’s expansionist ambitions.
For his part, Ambassador Alessandro Ferranti, sharing his impressions of Armenia, assured His Holiness that he would make every effort to deepen and expand cooperation between Armenia and Italy across various sectors.
