Ecumenical Service Held at St. John the Divine Cathedral in New York
27.01.2025
The interchurch service has been dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea. The First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea took place in 325 AD, convened by Emperor Constantine the Great. Christian leaders from all parts of the Christian world attended, and Bishop Aristakes, the son of Gregory the Illuminator, was present from Armenia. The First Council formulated the Nicene Creed, the guidelines for the observance of Easter, to be celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. All Christian Churches accepted the decisions made at the council.
