Armenian Apostolic Church Commemorates the 2nd Sunday of Great Lent: The Sunday of Expulsion
11.03.2025
During the Sunday Divine Liturgy at the Mother Cathedral, His Eminence Archbishop Sahak Mashalian, Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, noted that Great Lent is a time of self-examination for Christians, observed through fasting and Holy Scriptures' reading. The Sunday of Expulsion symbolizes the banishment of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. Throughout Great Lent, the closed altars of churches represent Paradise, whose gates were closed to humanity due to disobedience to God's commandments.
