Reign of Catholicos Karekin II Marks an Era of Church Renewal
During the Patriarchal ministry of His Holiness Karekin II, approximately 300 churches were built, restored, or consecrated, and 25 monasteries came under the jurisdiction of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Twenty-six years ago, the Armenian Church entered a new era—marked by systemic reforms, spiritual renewal, and significant ecclesiastical and societal transformations. The Gevorgyan Theological Seminary likewise experienced revitalization and today remains the only educational institution authorized to confer the academic degree of Candidate of Theology.
Over the past quarter century, the treasury of sacred relics of Holy Etchmiadzin has been enriched with unique reliquaries. Through the mediation and direction of the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, thirty-two reliquaries containing relics of universal saints have been brought to Holy Etchmiadzin—relics whose miraculous grace brings healing to the spiritual and bodily infirmities of the faithful.
