Investigative Committee Action Puts Assembly of Bishops at Risk

Gevorg Danielyan, a member of the Supreme Spiritual Council, fears that proceedings launched by the Investigative Committee against the Church, over noncompliance with a court order, could jeopardize the Assembly of Bishops scheduled for February in Austria. Bishop Gevorg was defrocked on January 27, and two days later, it became known that the Investigative Committee had initiated proceedings against the Church. Danielyan calls unfounded the claim that the Supreme Spiritual Council adopted a directive intended to obstruct the court order.
