“St. Gregory the Illuminator” gate (2001)

“St. Gregory the Illuminator” gate (2001)

It is in fictional unity with the Open Altar. Its architecture is completely different from the other two gates and it is dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion in Armenia. The architects of the monument are Jim Torosyan and Romeo Julhakyan, and the sponsor is Louise Manoogian Simon. On the eastern facade, in the middle of the arch, there is a 3 m high cross, on both sides of which are the bas-reliefs of Gregory the Illuminator and King Trdat III. On the western front are placed the reliefs of the apostles St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew who spread Christianity in Armenia. It was built in 2001.
