Catholicos of All Armenians Received 2016 Pontifical Scholarship Recipients

On June 1, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received three students of Armenian universities who were presented with a Pontifical Scholarship this year. They were accompanied by Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan, Minister of Education and Science; and His Grace Bishop Vardan Navasardyan, Director of the Christian Education Center.
For their high-marks achieved during the school semester, scholarships were awarded to Narek Mkrtchyan (Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, 1st year Master’s Degree of the Ornamentation Applies Arts); Anahit Mamulyan, (Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory 2nd year student of the Vocal Faculty) and Irina Muradyan (Yerevan State M. Heratsi Medical University, General Medicine, 3rd year student).
During the meeting, Bishop Vardan presented the student recipients and asked for the blessings of His Holiness.
The Minister of Education and Science also made remarks. He reflected on the wonder of the day and expressed gratitude to the Pontiff of All Armenians for the consistent support shown by the Mother See in the education sector. Minister Mkrtchyan stated that this is a beautiful occasion which assesses the youth’s work. The Minister emphasized the importance of meeting the Armenian Patriarch and stressed that the awarding of scholarships provides not only material assistance but a spiritual sense and meaning.
His Holiness conveyed his blessings to the students. In his remarks, the Catholicos of All Armenians noted the importance of education, stating that it is always highly appreciated in the national life. His Holiness stressed that the Armenian Church has continuously cared about the sacred cause of education of the people, and today also continues to exert every effort, contributing to the shaping of national spirit and character through various educational programs.
Once again congratulating the youth, His Holiness expressed confidence that they will successfully complete their studies and reach new heights because of their rich knowledge.
His Holiness expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Education and Science for the support by the Ministry that is being constantly provided to the Mother See. His Holiness expressed his wish that the Lord grant success to the Minister and the Ministry officials’ efforts, so that the school and university become factories of true national spirit and character and grant to the nation’s children a rich store of knowledge.
During the meeting they reflected on the educational programs being implemented by the Mother See and the achievements of educational institutions acting under the auspices of Holy Etchmiadzin.
