Catholicos of All Armenians Received Science Nobel Laureates 15.04.2016

On April 15, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Aaron Ciechanover, Ms. Ada Yonath, Mr. Dan Shechtman, and Mr. Ei-Ichi Negish, who have all won the Nobel Prize in the development of medicine and related scientific fields. They were accompanied by Prof. Michael Narimanian, rector of the M. Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University and Mr. Vilen Hakobyan, academician of the RA National Academy of Sciences and member of the Supreme Spiritual Council. The guests have arrived in Armenia on the occasion of "The Nobel Days in Yerevan" scientific event, organized by the M. Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University.

Welcoming the Nobel Prize winners and wishing them new achievements in their scientific activities, His Holiness stated that he was very pleased to welcome the renowned scientists to the spiritual center of all Armenians, who with their services rendered in the field of science, have made great contributions in the quest for the welfare of humanity.

Emphasizing the importance of The Nobel Days in Yerevan event, His Holiness stressed that it affords a unique opportunity to young scientists to communicate with the world-renowned scholars, and become inspired by their example.

During the meeting Catholicos Karekin II spoke about the recent military actions unleashed by Azerbaijan and its catastrophic consequences, also reflecting on his two-day visit to Artsakh.

On this occasion, His Holiness urged the Nobel Laureates, as great philanthropists and eminent scientists; to raise their voices and promote the re-establishment of peace in the Middle East and the Transcaucasus region. His Holiness noted that it was important for the international community to take a condemning stance in order to prevent similar occurrences

At the conclusion, His Holiness extended his gratitude to the participants and extended his prayer to God, that the Lord fill the world with peace.
