His Holiness Receives Representatives of the Human Rights and Genocide Studies Center NGO

On June 5, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received representatives of the Human Rights and Genocide Studies Center NGO.
During the meeting, the organization's president, Lilit Martirosyan, presented to His Holiness the Center’s main areas of activity, its ongoing academic and educational programs, and its upcoming initiatives.
The Catholicos of All Armenians bestowed his blessing upon those present and highly commended the Center’s scholarly, educational, and public awareness efforts in the field of genocide studies.
His Holiness also referred to the Church’s efforts in Armenia and throughout the Diaspora aimed at the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and condemning genocides for the protection of the rights of peoples and the prevention of crimes against humanity.
The meeting also addressed the forced displacement of the Armenian population of Artsakh, the violation of the fundamental rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, and the ongoing encroachments upon Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
It was emphasized that what had occurred constituted yet another genocidal act against the Armenian people, demonstrating that the impunity of crimes against humanity and the lack of their proper condemnation continue to give rise to new tragedies.
The discussion also touched on the professional involvement of clergy in educational initiatives in genocide studies.
