On July 14, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received approximately 30 young Armenians who had arrived from various Dioceses of the Diaspora on the occasion of the Armenian Studies and Religious Studies courses launched at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Held for the second consecutive year with the blessing of the Catholicos of All Armenians, the program aims to deepen the young participants’ knowledge of the Armenian language and the History of the Armenian people, enrich their spiritual knowledge, and acquaint them with the spiritual and cultural heritage of their people and national values. As part of the program, cultural events and pilgrimages to various holy sites in Armenia are also organized for the young Armenians.
The program is coordinated by Rev. Fr. Hieromonk Shnorhk Sargsyan, Deputy Director of the Clergy and Youth Training Program at the “Garegin I” Educational Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The nuns of the Ghazaravan Monastery also provide organizational support for the program.
In His remarks, His Holiness expressed joy at meeting young Armenians from different countries gathered in Holy Etchmiadzin and inquired about their daily lives and studies.
The Supreme Patriarch emphasized that such educational programs are aimed at educating and nurturing young Diaspora Armenians in the spirit of national and spiritual values, strengthening their national and spiritual identity, and further reinforcing their ties with the Church and the homeland.
At the conclusion, the Catholicos of All Armenians urged the young people to use the knowledge they had acquired to strengthen Armenian communities throughout the world and to serve the Church and the Armenian people.
