His Holiness Karekin II Receives Newly Appointed Ambassador of Australia

On May 24, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Peter Martin Tesh (Residence in Moscow), the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia.
Welcoming the Ambassador and wishing him success in his mission, His Holiness expressed confidence that through the efforts of the Ambassador the relations between the two nations will be more strengthened and the cooperation between the countries will be expanded.
The Catholicos of All Armenians affirmed with satisfaction that the Armenian community in the hospitable land of Australia is an important bridge for strengthening the bilateral relations. His Holiness conveyed his appreciation for the caring attitude of the Australian authorities towards the Armenian community.
The Armenian Patriarch expressed his gratitude to the legislative and executive bodies of the state of New South Wales of Australia, for the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh independence, as well as for the support during the process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Ambassador Tesh thanked His Holiness for the warm reception, assuring him that despite the geographical distance, his efforts will be focused on the further deepening and strengthening of the ties between the two countries in various fields.
During the meeting, they spoke about the efforts by religious leaders for peace in the region, the ecumenical and interreligious relations of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, as well as the role of the Church in civil society and contemporary challenges.
Attended the meeting was His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department.
