Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Participants of the International Lawyers’ Conference 23.04.2025

On April 23, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin the participants in an international conference of lawyers, convened in Yerevan at the initiative of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia. The delegation was led by Mr. Simon Babayan, President of the Chamber.

After seeking the Patriarch’s blessing, Mr. Ara Zohrabyan, Rector of the Academy of Advocates of Armenia, presented the guests, whose visit was intended to deepen their understanding of the mission of the Armenian Church and its role in the life of the nation and society.

Welcoming the delegation to the Mother See, His Holiness reflected on Holy Etchmiadzin’s pivotal role in the life of the Armenian people, emphasizing that the Christian faith has, for centuries, served as a cornerstone of the nation's spiritual values and the foundation of Armenian identity.

His Holiness then specifically addressed the crime committed against the Armenian people in the early 20th century—the Armenian Genocide—as well as the acts of genocide perpetrated in recent years by Azerbaijan against the Armenians of Artsakh.

During the meeting, His Holiness also spoke of the security challenges presently facing Armenia, the defense of the just rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, the repatriation of prisoners, and the safeguarding of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage. He underscored the vital role of international human rights organizations in preventing and condemning such grave crimes.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed appreciation of participants' efforts to defend human rights on international platforms and to advance justice within their respective societies.
