Rector of the University of the Republic of Uruguay Visits Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

On October 3, Dr. Roberto Markarian, Rector of the University of the Republic of Uruguay (Universidad de la República); and his delegation visited Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department, welcomed the guests.
Conveying the blessings and greetings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; Archbishop Nathan noted that it was a great honor and delight to welcome the Armenian scientist, leader of one of the most important educational institutions in Uruguay, and one who had invested significant contributions to the development of the educational system of the country.
Archbishop Nathan presented to the guests the mission of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in the life of the Armenian people and the current activities in various sectors. Referring to the programs implemented by the Armenian Church in the education sector, and the activities of the educational institutions acting under the auspices of the Mother See, Archbishop Nathan emphasized the work carried out for the youth.
Dr. Makarian conveyed his best wishes and greetings to the Catholicos of All Armenians. Emphasizing the importance of education, he stated with that the cooperation in the field of education is becoming increasingly closer between the two countries.
Rector Markarian also reflected on the life of the Armenians in Uruguay, as well as the important role of the Armenian community in the 100th anniversary commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.
At the conclusion, Archbishop Nathan wished Dr. Makarian success in his activities.
