Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Representatives of Germany’s Academic and Educational Community 16.07.2026

On July 16, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin representatives of Germany’s academic and educational community, led by Dr. Matthias Kopp, Spokesperson of the German Bishops’ Conference and Head of its Press and Public Relations Department.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, Dr. Matthias Kopp introduced the guests to His Holiness. He noted that the purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of the Armenian Church, the history of the Armenian people, its spiritual and cultural heritage, and Christian traditions.

His Holiness then welcomed the guests to Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, emphasizing that such visits contribute to the further strengthening of relations and fraternal ties between peoples and Churches.

In his remarks, the Supreme Patriarch spoke about the important mission of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church in the life of the Armenian people, particularly emphasizing the Church’s role in strengthening the Christian faith, preserving national identity, and preserving and enriching the spiritual and cultural heritage.

His Holiness also addressed the challenges facing the Armenian people, expressing his appreciation to friendly countries, including Germany, Sister Churches, and international organizations, for the support extended to the Armenian people and the Armenian Church during difficult times.

During the meeting, His Holiness answered the guests’ questions concerning the activities of the Armenian Church, interchurch relations, and the spiritual and social life of Armenia.
