Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Delegation of Save Armenia Organization

On September 18, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received a Save Armenia delegation led by its Executive Director, Dr. Paul Murray.
Welcoming the guests to the spiritual center of the Armenian people, His Holiness has bestowed his blessing upon the delegation’s members.
He expressed his appreciation for their support for Armenia and the Armenian people, as well as for their tireless efforts to inform the international community about the challenges Armenia and the Armenian people face.
During the meeting, His Holiness underscored the urgent necessity of protecting the rights of the forcibly displaced Armenians of Artsakh, securing the prompt release of Armenian captives unlawfully held in Azerbaijan, and addressing the ongoing policy of destruction and appropriation of the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh. In this regard, he underscored the importance of a more active targeted response from competent international bodies, Sister Churches, and Christian organizations.
Referring to regional developments, the Catholicos of All Armenians underscored that genuine and lasting peace must be founded upon justice, truth, human dignity, religious freedom, and respect for the fundamental rights of peoples.
Delegation members, for their part, highly commended the centuries-old salvific mission of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church and its role in preserving the Armenian people’s national identity, as well as its steadfast witness of faith offered to the entire Christian world amid the gravest historical trials.
The guests emphasized that Armenia’s and the Armenian Church’s rich Christian heritage deserves broader international recognition and proper appreciation, and expressed their readiness to continue efforts to ensure the voice of the Armenian people and the Armenian Church is heard on various international platforms.
They also presented their ongoing initiatives aimed at raising international awareness of violations of the rights of Armenian prisoners and encroachments upon the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh. The members of the delegation assured His Holiness that they would continue to raise the issue of Armenian prisoners within the governmental institutions of the United States and the relevant bodies engaged in matters of international religious freedom.
During the meeting, the participants also exchanged views on the Christian upbringing of the younger generation, the spiritual life of youth and the strengthening of faith, as well as ways to overcome hatred and enmity and establish justice among peoples.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians wished the delegation’s members a fruitful mission and invoked God's blessing and assistance upon their endeavors.
