Primate’s Remarks Reflect Personal Views, Not Official Church Position 29.04.2025

Certain views expressed by the Diocesan Primate reflect personal perspectives and do not represent the Church's official position. In response to inquiries addressed to the Information Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, we offer the following clarification:

STATEMENT

Remarks delivered by His Eminence Archbishop Vazgen Mirzakhanyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of the Baltic States, during his welcoming address on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to Saint Gregory the Illuminator Church in Tallinn, have given rise to varied interpretations among different segments of the public. Regrettably, these comments have also led to politicized readings and unduly critical discourse targeting the clergyman and the Church.

It is important to note that certain reflections and assessments voiced by the Primate are of a personal and subjective nature and should not be considered as expressing the official stance of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

In addressing public matters—particularly in the absence of a clearly defined ecclesiastical position—clergy are encouraged to exercise circumspection and pastoral sensitivity, to avoid potential misinterpretation or misunderstanding.
