Catholicos of All Armenians Sends Condolences to Hrachya Tamrazyan’s Family 05.09.2016

On September 5, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; sent a letter of condolence to the Tamrazyan family, on the occasion of the passing of Mr. Hrachya Tamrazyan, Director of the Matenadaran-St. Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts.

The letter of condolence stated: “With great pain, we were informed about the death of Mr. Hrachya Tamrazyan, Director of the Matenadaran and National Academy of Sciences member.

On behalf of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, members of the Brotherhood of Holy Etchmiadzin and officials of the Mother See, we convey our condolences and deepest sympathis to the family and friends of the departed, and the staff and administration of the Matenadaran.

Mr. Hrachya Tamrazyan lived a creative literary and productive life, with his God-given talents enriching the treasury of Armenian literature and culture. His authored works of dozens collections of poetry, translations, numerous literary articles, and Armenological studies, especially monographs devoted to the studies of Narek, and are the clear evidence of the exceptional and valuable intellectual contributions of the talented Armenian. For many years the late scientist worked and created under the hallowed roof of the Matenadaran and for over a decade led the activity of that constellation of the spiritual Armenian mind, with love and zeal.

The death of the distinguished cultural figure is a great loss for Armenian studies. Mr. Hrachya Tamrazyan will continue to live in the memory of generations, with his significant contributions and appreciable investments.

We pray to All Mighty God to accept in his dwellings with sweetness the soul of the late Mr. Hrachya Tamrazyan and grant him the gifts of light and peace…
