Congratulatory Message from His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, on the Occasion of Independence Day
21.09.2025
On Independence Day, from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, we extend our Patriarchal blessing and heartfelt wishes to all our people—both in the Homeland and in the Diaspora.
The restoration of independent statehood was a centuries-old, deeply held sacred aspiration. Our people realized it through united will and collective effort. They strove to build a peaceful and prosperous society based on national traditions and values.
Today, our country and people continue to face difficult trials. We are overcoming post-war hardships and adversities, dealing with the consequences of conflict, and confronting many challenges both within our nation and beyond its borders.
Our responsibility to the state does not permit us to tolerate injustice, lawlessness, hatred, division, falsehood, or deceit. Instead, this sense of responsibility must guide our people toward harmony and unity. It should illuminate the paths to resolve problems and overcome the difficult circumstances before us.
Love for the state must be expressed through sincere care for its revival, trust, and attentiveness toward one another, and steadfast dedication in every task and field of endeavor.
Independence Day calls upon us to remain faithful to the ideals of national revival, to safeguard our sacred heritage and values, and to strengthen and enhance the power and prosperity of our state. Only in this way can we nurture hope and confidence in a peaceful and flourishing future—unceasingly invoking, with the psalmist, the Heavenly One:
"Remember us, O Lord, for the sake of Your people, and visit us with Your salvation" (Psalm 105:4).
We pray that the Lord grant peace to our Homeland and bestow upon our people the wisdom and guidance of His Holy Spirit, so that with hope and faith, they may draw strength and courage to face challenges, and preserve and uphold the glorious significance of Independence Day for generations to come.
May the mercy, grace, and blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all, now and always. Amen.
